Specialist Classes
Science
South Hedland Primary School understands the importance of Science education and has offered Science as one of its four specialist subjects for the past four consecutive years. Central to the Science program delivered at South Hedland Primary School is Australian Curriculum Science. The Science curriculum develops students ability to ask questions, collect information, organize and test ideas, problem-solve and apply what they've learned. By combining active, hands-on/minds-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning experiences with research and problem-solving opportunities, we’re helping students build an understanding of what it means to know science. The Science program offers a powerful platform for building confidence, developing communication skills and making sense of the world around us.
Students have access to a dedicated space where everyone is included and engaged in science. At South Hedland Primary School we are committed to developing science literacy, building critical thinking skills and fostering the joy of learning. We also offer a Junior and Senior Extension Science Class, during school hours, for students who demonstrate an aptitude and an interest in STEM. South Hedland Primary School is also the site for the Hedland Maths and Science Centre of Excellence.
